The Darkroom Premiere

This past summer we wrapped nine days of production on GVSU’s 15th Annual Summer Film Project “The Darkroom.”
During the fall months of 2009 the post-production of the film was done by students in a Post-Production Practicum course at GVSU of which our esteemed director Z. Eric Yang instructed. Some of the students who were involved with production also had the privilege of seeing the post-production to completion. During this course students were challenged to play with various cuts of scenes and learn how editing and sound design affects the story of a film.
This past January the film made it’s final post-production rounds at Cineworks in Miami, Florida.
After much waiting and anticipation “The Darkroom” is ready to premiere!

(Wrap party photos & the aftermath…)
Principal photography has been put to rest. We’ve received the footage back from CINEWORKS and thus far everything looks good. Ryan Smith is currently syncing the footage and the rough edit should be underway this coming weekend. For now we will sit on pins and needles hoping that there will be no need for a pick-up shoot. Time will certainly tell.
Thanks to everyone who has helped make this production go so smoothly! We are all extremely grateful for everyone who has given their time, services and resources. It’s always amazing to see people come together and collectively aim at success. ”The Darkroom” will be just that because of all of you!

The last day of shooting…
It’s hard to believe, but we have finally arrived to the last day of shooting. It’s been a long 8 days of production, but it has truly been a great ride for everyone. We have had virtually no problems — it’s truly hard to comprehend. I know that once everyone is rested up, and actually has the energy to reflect on this shoot, there will be great memories in store.

13 more hours of hard work, and “The Darkroom” will officially be shot, sealed and delivered!
Principal Photography has begun…

After nearly three months of pre-production shooting for “The Darkroom” is finally underway. Last week all of the students involved participated in multiple crew drills, practicing on-set protocol and procedures. After the drills everyone felt well prepared for the weeks ahead.
Now, after a few days of shooting under our belts, spirits are high and production has been running smoothly all across the board. The crew is working extremely hard. Besides a few bumps in the road, Eric has thus far been very satisfied with each day’s coverage. Six more shooting days to go…
